2 Drops Of Style : GB's Fashion Team Wins Gold In The Catwalk!

There are about five cities in the whole world that i admire for their contribution in the fashion industry. London is certainly one of them! A fashion metropolis which every year leaves her mark at the runways around the world. Fashion icons and fashion victims gather around the banks of Thames in order to get a sneak peek of the new trends.

So, as London hosted 2012's Olympic Games, it couldn't miss the chance of creating a lot of hype around one of the most powerfull industries of the country, fashion. And which moment could be better than the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics?! Truth is, fashion had her own special place at this year's Games. Iconic designers like Ralf Lauren, Stella McCartney and Prada designed the athletic uniforms of their nations for the Beginning and Closing Ceremonies.

And after 16 days of gladness, pride and disappointment it's the time for the Closing Ceremony...The show was a tribute to the 50 years of British music. Great musicians and bands, like George Michael, Muse, Oasis, Take that, The Who, appeared on stage.

And just about then, the stadium transformed into a huge catwalk and trucks carrying billboard sized pictures of famous British supermodels came in. David Bowie's "Fashion" plays loudly and the real supermodels, in flesh and bones, appear behind their pictures! The runway walk starts off with legends Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Both of them lead Lily Donaldson, Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia M Jagger and awfully sexy David Gandy (!) at the center of the catwalk. They pose only for 3 minutes...but these 3 minutes were the most dazzling and astonishing of the whole evening!

And how couldn't they be since the spectacular show was styled by one of the world's best stylists, Lucinda Chambers, British Vogue magazine's fashion director!

Μία μητρόπολη της μόδας, που κάθε χρόνο αφήνει το στίγμα της στις πασαρέλες σε όλο τον κόσμο και κάνει όλα τα fashion icons και victims μαζί να τρέχουν μέχρι τις όχθες του Τάμεση για να "γευτούν" τις νέες τάσεις, ακριβώς την στιγμή που γεννιούνται!

Καθώς,λοιπόν, η Αγγλία ήταν φέτος η διοργανώτρια χώρα των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων δεν θα μπορούσε φυσικά να αφήσει ανεκμετάλλευτη την ευκαιρία να προβάλλει μία από τις δυναμικότερες βιομηχανίες της, την μόδα. Και ποια θα ήταν η καλύτερη στιγμή για κάτι τέτοιο από την Τελετή Λήξης;! Είναι αλήθεια ότι στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του 2012 η μόδα είχε τη δική της ξεχωριστή θέση, καθώς κορυφαίοι σχεδιαστές, όπως ο Ralf Lauren, η Stella McCartney και η Prada, επέλεξαν να σχεδιάσουν τις αθλητικές στολές των αποστολών της χώρας τους για τις τελετές Έναρξης και Λήξης.

Μετά λοιπόν από 16 μέρες χαράς, υπερηφάνειας και απογοήτευσης αρχίζει η τελετή λήξης, έχοντας ως κύριο θέμα της τον εορτασμό των τελευταίων 50 ετών της βρετανικής παρουσίας στη παγκόσμια μουσική σκηνή, με κορυφαία είδωλα όπως ο George Michael, οι Muse, οι Oasis, οι Take that και οι The Who να εμφανίζονται επί σκηνής.

Και κάπου εκεί, το στάδιο μεταμορφώνεται σε μία τεράστια πασαρέλα και στον χώρο εισβάλλουν φορτηγά με γιγαντοαφίσες των μεγαλύτερων (αλλά και ανερχόμενων) Βρετανών topmodels! Το "Fashion" του David Bowie αντηχεί από όλα τα μεγάφωνα και τα αληθινά topmodels, με σάρκα και οστά, βγαίνουν, το καθένα μέσα από την αφίσα του. Η πασαρέλα ξεκινάει με τους θρύλους Kate Moss και Naomi Campbell. Και οι δύο μαζί οδηγούν τις Lily Donaldson, Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia M Jagger αλλά και τον απίστευτα sexy David Gandy (!) στο κέντρο της πασαρέλας. Μένουν εκεί ποζάροντας μόνο για 2 με 3 λεπτά... αλλά σίγουρα είναι τα πιο θεαμάτικα 3 λεπτά ολόκληρης της βραδιάς!

Και πως θα μπορούσε άλλωστε να μην είναι, αφού το show επιμελήθηκε μία από τις καλύτερες και πιο καταξιωμένες stylist παγκοσμίως, η Lucinda Chambers, fashion director της Βρετανικής Vogue!
